With its warm, welcoming atmosphere, Tabure embodies everything we love about Turkish cuisine and culture.
We’re Hulya and Mark, the husband and wife team behind Tabure. Our restaurant reflects a passion for great food and service, and a genuine desire to offer diners something new and refreshing on the high street. With its warm, welcoming atmosphere, Tabure embodies everything we love about Turkish cuisine and culture.
Our story begins in a small café, which evolved into an all-day neighbourhood eatery. We outgrew the premises, sold the business and moved to Turkey to spend quality time with our baby daughter. Soon, we were planning a new Turkish restaurant; the kind of ‘no holds barred’ restaurant that excites and inspires. We began to research, travelling around Turkey discovering ingredients, traditions, dishes and secret recipes – from isot dried chilli pepper, and
sumac (a lemony spice), to pul biber (Aleppo pepper) and lamb tail fat. We haven’t found a supplier for the last one, but we’re still looking…
We refined the concept and chose the menu, but didn’t have a name. The final piece of the jigsaw fell into place when we were sitting outside one evening. A neighbour called over to say hello, and we invited them to join us for some çay (tea). They called back: “I’ll just grab my tabure”. We looked at each other and knew it was the perfect name. Today, we invite you to enjoy a unique dining experience, to celebrate the very best of Turkish cuisine with friends and family and above all, to share with love.
Welcome, to Tabure.
